In other to understand Comfy AI's operations you must recognize that you can move elements freely across the Canva where you will notice that there are various control available in each element, some include "Manager" Option which enable you to install custom nodes, this are specialized tools that expand it capabilities.


Installing Custom Nodes:-

The Installation process of custom nodes is straightforward. Go to GitHub page, where you’ll find a "Get Clone" link to the Comfy Manager. Copy this link, navigate to the ComfyUI folder on your computer, then to the custom nodes folder. Open a command window, paste the link to start downloading. Once its finish downloading run the ComfyUI executable file to finalize the installation process.






Understanding the Manager's Key Functions

You might be wondering what  Manager button means, this includes three key buttons:

Update All Button: this key button keeps Comfy AI and all custom nodes refresh. 

Install Custom Nodes Button: this key buttons opens a list of custom nodes which allow you to install or disable them if needed.

Install Models Button: this key button enable you to add and manage models. Models in Comfy are those templates that is used for various types of image processing.

Note, when setting up models, you might notice it might not always be image generation models like in 4X full hearty remark and 8X NMKD super scale are upscaling models that enhance image resolution. 

When setting up Comfy AI make sure it is linked to any pre-existing models you have from tools like "Automatic 1111." Adjusting your settings ensures you don’t duplicate files on your hard drive, saving space and allowing for seamless integration.


Starting Your Workflow

Now that we have set up Comfy, let’s start creating! 

Zoom in or out with your mouse in other to adjust canvas view, which keeps the core of your design within a blue rectangle for clarity.

So in other to add nodes, double-click on the canvas and use the search bar to locate a specific tool. For instance, to begin creating images, add a "K Sampler" node. Comfy AI makes it easy to connect different nodes by simply clicking and dragging from one node’s output to another node’s input. 


Organizing Your Workflow:-

To organize your workflow, you can use Comfy grouping and color-coding features. For example:

Grouping: Right-click on the canvas then select "Add Group," and drag it around nodes to create clusters. This is prefer when organizing complex workflows.

Color-coding: Especially when you are using multiple nodes of the same type, you can change node colors for visual clarity. 

You can keep your workflow organized and purpose driven by adding titles. For instance, naming a K Sampler node as "K Sampler - Anime". But incase you want to make the workflow even more interactive then you can convert controls to inputs which enables more precise adjustments and customization. This is particularly useful for creating dynamic and reusable workflows.
